Welcome Home, AGQ Alumni!
Founded by Herbert Twining in 1925 and later purchased by the Ann Arbor YMCA in 1968, Camp AGQ has sat on the shores of Burt Lake for over 100 years. Since its founding, it has continued to serve youth and provide an enriching summer camp experience for all who visit its shores.
The AGQ Family includes our current campers and staff members, and the thousands of people who have spent time at camp since 1925. Just as camp alumni have shaped what AGQ is today, it is our hope that AGQ has given our former campers and staff members many memories, skills and friendships that remain with them long after their last summer at camp.

YMCA Camp AGQ celebrated its 100th year of creating summer memories in 2025!
Family, friends, staff and alumni of Camp AGQ spent a weekend on Burt Lake reuniting with the place so many have called their summer home. AGQ’s 100th anniversary was a meaningful opportunity for us to honor 100 years of rich history, tradition and community. This event allowed us to connect with alumni, celebrate our legacy, and invest in future summers for generations of campers to come.

If you have stories or photos of your time at Camp Al-Gon-Quian, we encourage you to share. This summer, one former staff member told us about a faux counselor foot race around the lake that they used to do in the 1960s, and we replicated it in July during one of our all-day activities.
We strive to mix tradition with innovation at Al-Gon-Quian, and learning about the past at AGQ is a great way for us to continue this. Thank you for your interest in Al-Gon-Quian and for being a member of the Al-Gon-Quian community. We hope to hear from you soon!
